Micro Realities (SOLO A/V version) by Aloïs Yang
der Zug by Ka Justka
Micro Realities investigates the representations of physical materials in digital formats, and challenges artist’s authority and control in the realm of digital audiovisual performance.
The bespoke software captures and analyses the raw materials(field recordings, natural substances, and found objects) in real time, placing different sets of parameters interacting with one another. Unrepeatable, organic hybrids of audio and visual content are then generated, which are released through loudspeakers and a projector.
The microscopic images manifest the core visual properties of the matter, which control and reinterpret the structure and texture of the sounds. Simultaneously, the altered sonic attributes, such as frequency and amplitude, are feedback to the images, generating back and forth audiovisual developments.
During the performance, improvisations and manipulations are highly engaged with the given properties of real world materials. These results in new forms of life to the raw materials, that appears disappears in fragments of composite reality.
der Zug is an audiovisual cinematic journey through tracks.
BIOS:
Aloïs Yang, born in 1986 Dax, France, raised in Taiwan, now based in Berlin, is a sound artist, interaction designer and electronic musician who produces work that explores the relation and interaction among people, sound, and the external world. His work is influenced both by scientific reference and human imperfection of understanding the nature.
He overcomes the separation of art forms and genres with an integrated creative approach. He uses a wide range of media, from interactive installation to fictional story telling videos and live audiovisual performance.
His work crafts a journey with open endings to both artist and audience. Where the interactions take place not just in objective reality, but also intimate experience and imaginative projection. These includes traveling among subjects, such as brain function, facial expression, starlight and apocalypse.
Ka Justka is a Polish multimedia artist based in Berlin. Her work capitalizes on her obsessions with the medium of electricity and weird organic sounds. Her art can be seen as invocations to the vast power inherent within electronic systems and networks. With this conceptual frame in mind Kasia fashions a dynamic order and form from primitive entropy. Using light, sound images and objects as her tools, her intuitive and analogue based performances have led to collaborations with theaters, galleries, fashion designers, artists and festivals, including Electrovision London, Transvisualia, Free Form Festival, CynetArt_08, Unsound Festival, Piksel in Norway, Warsaw Electronic Festival, gallery Zacheta, WRO Bienale, TR Warszawa, Volksbuhne and others.
