alphawave #5: Mung & Head of Wantastiquet
Doors: 19:30
Start time: 20:00
This coming Alphawave will present deep drones, and it an invitation to connect with the idea of depth: physically and spiritually. One level, the intensely meditative performance of the Berlin’s duo Mung, and on the other hand the stratified drones and field recordings from the deep of the ocean of Head of Wantastiquet.

Head of Wantastiquet is the current project of sound artist Paul LaBrecque. It could be defined as thoroughly Modern/NOW take on the early minimalist experiments of John Cale’s Sun Blindness tapes, projected through a prism that refracts into hallucinatory images of Andrew Wyeth and Caspar Friedrich, the temporal finality of Altamont and Kenneth Anger, the bare feet grounded to the soil of Träd Gräs och Stenar, and the beautiful desolation of Doc Boggs’ early 20th century Appalachian hollers. Paul LaBrecque collaborated with: Sunburned Hand of the Man, Thurston Moore, Faust, LSD March, Magik Markers, MV&EE, Wooden Wand, Louise Landes Levi, Orphan Fairytale, Cam Deas, Daniel Bachman and others….
Mung is a drone/noise Berlin formed by artists Thomas Radam (aka Tell Brak Continuum) and Benjamin Düster. Their sound performances are inspired equally by static noises and by eastern sound practices, and are deeply meditative. Together, they run Rainbow Gravity tapes.
