Sound art night with:
Andrei Cucu - Close Quarters
Close Quarters is a project exploring the limits between chamber and ambient sound, using generative processes. The piece is meant as an ever-changing composition: counterbalancing the very tangible aspects of the sounds, the visuals react to even the smallest change in tone, materialising it in rapid movement within limited confines. While most ambient sound explores vast, almost endless spaces, Close Quarters dwells in small chambers, looking for immensity in the infinitesimal.
Aidan Baker - Field of Drones
A 'field of drones' - minimalistic, looping ambient/experimental sound, using processing and prepared/alternate performance techniques.
As a student in sound design, Andrei Cucu discovered the endless possibilities in manipulating, shaping and destroying sound, processes which fuel a continual fascination with the tangible aspect of sound. Using mostly software as means of creation, his work often tries the boundaries between sound and image, constructing or exploring correlations in video pieces, or A/V sets. Despite the technical, even at times nerdy, character of such an approach, his work always maintains an aesthetic focus, letting the result speak for itself, not just as a representation of the tools used. https://soundcloud.com/andrei-cucu
