Atonal gender – a Soundlandscape performance series / Curated by Danilo Andrés

Series of performances exploring the connection between the term „metagender“ and experimental sound through the participation of different body performers that share this common intersection in their own work, in research with voice, instrumental music or in the territory of soundlandscapes. The atomization of perspectives and the crisis of alphabets about "gender" drive us to understand gender as a phenomenon in evolution (metagender), and also to open the creative sources for a wide range of layers and issues that are not exclusively related with sexuality (metabody) which finally make resonance in the multiplicity of ways we can sense and experience the reality around us (senses, organs, perception). Following these principles as an unspecific beat, the project aims to collect new fantasies and technologies to imagine a "gender" of the future. "Gender" as a dark piece of fiction and dramaturgy in action and evolution, under the common score of performers using and setting different sonorous dispositives (a-capella voice, soundlandscape installation, loop machine).

Zoe Crook / Sample 5: krowtra's night off (Nomadic)

Attempting to understand metagender and its potential, Zoe investigate the subject conceptually through etymology, association and allusion. Treating the subject as a means to move: an opportunity to communicate using text to voice software in a poetic commentary to the action. The presenter is an apparation of metagender personified. Treating the space and viewers as compatriots in an unknown play, this child is fluid and unexpected. This will form a part of a soundscape. The figure though incapable of intelligable speech will form the other half through voice and sound making outfit devices. It is a gesamtkunstwerk. It isn't intended to be definable or singular but rather total and multi faceted.

Zoe Crook is an instigator and provocateur, dealing mainly in conceptual and theoretical practice, outcomes of such a practice tend to be in the form of performance-installations. A graduate of Arts and Fine Arts from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Crook has been researching the State of contemporary art (or the potential of artistic nationhood) with the support of various bodies throughout the world for the past two years.

Crook has furthered this research through residencies and conferences in Australia, France, Germany, New Zealand and Sweden and hopes to complete a further residency in Russia later this year.

Paula Montecinos / Insidebodies (GER/CH)

Collaborators Artist: Sarah Hermanutz & Nayeli Vega

Insidebodies is an performative sound installation, that explores the notion of posthuman feminism to trigger sensorial becomings of watery bodies. Through the encounter of sound and movement as ungraspable materialities, our aim is to decolonize our perceptions and ontologies, about body and gender.

Paula Montecinos (CL/DE) is a dancemaker and performer. She involves with embodiment and movement research to explore performative practices both through somatic and socio-political approaches. She study Dance and Choreography, at the Academy of Christian Humanism University and received a Postgraduate Diploma on Foundations for Contemporary Critique for Performing Arts at the University of Chile. She starts a choreographic research in Berlin, exploring somatic practices, sound and visuals, developing part of this process in residences like Graner/Barcelona, Lakes Studios Berlin and Con|VERGE Collaboration Residency, in Ponderosa / Stolzenhagen. She has work and collaborated with artists in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Berlin, and Austria, and created her own pieces within and in-between the topics of otherness / life / matter / affects.
