HR (Ann Rosén & Sten-Olof Hellström) - Barrier module performance playing on the knee-cuff instruments
With knitted sensors around their knees the duo HR (Ann Rosén and Sten-Olof Hellström) bend, stretch and twist the acoustic room as they conjure up strange new sound worlds. The Barrier module is a part of the GREAT BARRIER ORCHESTRA project.

Bryan Eubanks and Adam Asnan will use the occasion of a first collaboration to emphasize the effects of combining the systems each musician had developed independently, and yet interpret the same principle; The control of resonant metal plates via transduction.
HR is a duo consisting of the two sound-artists and composers Ann Rosén and Sten-Olof Hellström that mainly perform composed electroacoustic music. They see difficulties as options and power through or slingshot around different barriers.
Ann Rosén is an artist, composer and a founding member of SYNTJUNTAN. She performs together with Fredrik Olofsson as KNYPPEL and is one half of RIS OCH ROS with Jakob Riis as the other half. Together with Sten-Olof Hellström Ann runs Schhh projectroom, the Schhh record lable and the performance duo HR. People, processes, collaborations and sound are all key elements in Ann Roséns work. In her compositions for ensembles, unprocessed as well as processed noise plays an important role such as in HEAD RESITANCE for guitar quartet and synthesizer hats. Her solo performances often contain various surround techniques and self-made synthesizers, sensors and controllers. Her latest project is the ongoing Great Barrier Orchestra.
Sten-Olof Hellström is mainly a composer of electroacoustic music which has been performed at festivals, concerts, radio broadcasts around the world. Sten-Olof is also active as a performer of live-electronic music both on his own and as a member of different ensembles such as HR (with Ann Rosén), As Good as it Gets (with Lars Bröndum). Sten-Olof is also part a the duo Hellström and Bowers together with the British composer and performer John M Bowers.
Adam Asnan is an electroacoustic musician and sound recordist based between London and Berlin. His work promotes the aesthetic potential of recorded, amplified sound, the auditory 'image', and virtues of spatialisation.
Bryan Eubanks (b. 1977) is a musician and composer from the Pacific Northwest of the US. He composes electronic and acoustic works for small ensembles, solo instruments, and custom generative software; plays soprano saxophone; improvises in collaboration; and experiments with acoustic holography, a stereophonic recording and diffusion technique. Since 2001 he has been developing unique electronic systems and instruments, participated in many collaborative projects, and has presented his work internationally. Primarily an autodidact, he received an MFA in 2012 from the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. He has lived and worked in Portland, Oregon and New York City, and is currently based in Berlin.
