  • "Cloud Chamber" - Peter Jacquemyn (double bass & voice) & Stefan Prins (laptop & interface)
According to particle physics, a cloud chamber is a container made of supersaturated water or alcohol. When an otherwise imperceptible charged particle passes through it, a trace is left specific to that particle's shape. If a uniform magnetic field is applied across the chamber, the differently charged particles curve in opposite directions, creating elaborate traces. In essence, improvising is like creating a cloud chamber. Inside the container of a performance, the unheard is made audible and energy is transformed into a network of traces and trajectories. Peter's double bass and voice and Stefan Prins's electronics act as a constantly changing magnetic field that curves these particles into different densities, constellations and forms. They appear for a fraction of an instance and then evaporate until the next particle makes its entry.

  • "Cloud Chamber" + Frank Gratkowski (reedsx)

  • Constant Realities - Biliana Voutchkova & Walli Höfinger
With the performance CONSTANT REALITIES we create an atmospheric space, that provides a field for improvisation. We are constantly developing visual concepts for our improvised musical and physical dialogues in space. In general we are focusing on the wide phenomena of movement – in terms of physical movement versus moving image. The constant life movement and the impossibility of freezing the moment corresponds with the variable element of speed. The sound, image and performative movement fully compliment each other creating a symbiotic poetic imagery.

Stefan Prins
In his compositional work Prins seeks to critique received convention, to break the framework of the usual, and dispose of aesthetic axioms. He envisions a musical art form beyond the safe confines of the »scene«, wherein the connection to the larger cultural discourse has gotten lost. A central pre-condition for the making of a new music with a future is the role of the aware, critical observer, one who is prepared to exploit the technologies and mechanisms of the prefabricated media with a view to their possibilities for new music. – Stefan Prins lives up to this calling. Since 2012 the Duo Höfinger/Voutchkova is frequently meeting to exchange, improvise, share questions and research into the possibilities of symbiosis between the collective palette of personal language of each performer – those including sound, music, text, singing, visuals, movement, etc.
Both performers are experienced improvisors working with real time composition, instant relation and listening/reacting to the momentum. The duo works on the threshold of sense/non-sense and searches for variety of forms detached from context. Their work was publicly shown for first time in 2015 in Germany and France.
