Electro-acoustic solo performance by Jan Klug
Jan Klug is performing with his hybrid electro-acoustic setup. Using a personal mesh of software and sensors, he knits together the sounds of Theremin and his own slide Pataphone, resulting in ambient soundscapes that are perforated by deep digital trenches.

HOL - Synap.sys by 1mpar (Henrique Roscoe)
Performed live through an interface created by the artists, this AV performance covers memories from the past or the future, collective or personal, instincts or knowledge acquired over time. The interface symbolizes links that occur in the human brain: synapses, which are connections between neurons in order to allow the encoding of information acquired by the senses, recording of these throughout time, in addition to serving as a source for our memories. The performance deals with sensations and feelings that somehow pass through memory, through abstractions, images and sounds that are part of the forming process of these memories, which during life shape our personality and affectivity.

It has 3 main parts: the connection between external and internal worlds through the data input; how this information is stored; and recall, when the data is retrieved in the format of memories. Each part has its own abstract narrative, using fundamental elements of sound and image in order to create metaphors that tell the history.

Jan Klug (1971) is an Aachen-born composer and media artist who lives in Groningen (the Netherlands) and focuses on the use of computers and programming as creative tools for live sonic and cross-media performances. In 1999 he graduated from the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen, and since then has worked on several projects in dance, theater and film. In numerous performances, he blended electro-acoustic sound, video and programming – solo and in collaborations. Between 1996 and 2006 he has been a permanent member of the Dutch performing poetry group “Poets from Epibreren”, where he specialized in the sonic accompaniment of poetry and literature, a practice he continues to pursue today with various writers and poets. Since 2008, Jan is a core teacher of the Master of Fine Arts ‘MADtech' at the Frank Mohr Institute (FMI) of Academy Minerva in Groningen, an interdisciplinary programme that combines art and technology. In 2014, Jan Klug graduated from the Master program 'Instruments & Interfaces' at the Institute of Sonology (Royal Conservatory in Den Haag) and STEIM, Amsterdam. His current work revolves around improvised electro-acoustic (solo) performance and interactive light installations.

Henrique Roscoe is a digital artist and curator who works in the audiovisual area since 2004. He has a conceptual and generative project called ‘HOL’. All the compositions seek a correspondence between audio and video and they are performed live or in the form of videos or installations. He forms part of the audiovisual duo ‘ligalingha’ and develops interactive installations, programming in Processing, vvvv and Max/Msp. He builds instruments and interactive interfaces using sensors and common day objects, produces video-sceneries for bands and events in Brazil, Germany and USA and is one of the curators and producers of FAD – digital art festival that happens in Belo Horizonte since 2007.
