HEKATE Collective Sound Video Screening and Concert Curated by CORPO 6
Fabio Campagna / Tim van den Oudenhoven / Sabine Mittermeier / Alejandro Moncada / La Muerte Roja

For this collective sound video screening night, La Muerte Roja will present for the first time “Hekate”. A new composition which will score, live, “7 5 12 -- M8”, a short movie projected in loop. The interference of the music ambiance within the slow and continuous repetition of the peripheral, liminal urbanscape of Berlin – Lichtenberg - will produce a different episteme of its anthropological and symbolic facts.

Opening up new perspectives on its identity. La Muerte Roja, a tonal atonal drone improv open ensemble, based in Berlin since 2012, will be formed for this evening by: Fabio Campagna, Sabine Mittermeir, Bianca Ringwald and Angel Sanchez Cervera.

'Intellectualem cognitionem.' Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (De Ente et Uno, Chapter V, 1489)
HEKATE is a collective sound-video screening which reflects upon the inner obscure structure of cinema. An intense journey following the actual idea within the visual and sound narrative of the media. And their indissoluble link.
The reference is to the ancient three faces Greek goddesses of the night, magic and crossroads. And it reminds of the interrelations between the body, the physicality of the space and their intimate sound. A liminal access.
A matter of discovery. A new gnosis.
The eternal feminine presents itself as a direct access to the reality through the concept of duration and staticity. Contemplation as an analogical adherence. Silence as a platform to objectify unpredictable subjects.
Noise as the internal language of things. Harmony as the ultimate form.

This second appointment of Hekate will present other works of some of the artists included in the first HEKATE video screening night at Spektrum, in order to deepen further their research of the subtle, physical logic between the dynamic of sound and the corresponding images in motion. Program:

AZULADO, Alejandro Moncada. Digital Video, Color, Sound, 10’49’’, 2001. Azulado describes an intimate and unusual journey on a desert highway. Few minutes before the day falls. A silent and cryptic landscape unfolds slowly itself before our sight. The outline is blurred, the objects are not clearly defined by sight but by the capacity of imagination. The reality is what you project upon it till it becomes translucent. A silent process of self-revelation and observation.

PNYX, Fabio Campagna, Digital Video, Black and White, Sound, 8’03’’. Music By PNYX. Berlin, 2016. Short video shot in Berlin between 2015 and 2016. Featuring: “Limen” a urban sound video installation projected in Prenzlauer Berg, on the 15th of May, 2015, in Berlin. An archeology of the sacred within the peripheral spaces of Berlin itself. A sulcus primigenius. A liminal line has been traced. A circular shape emerges. Like a new sea. Where seeds of a new society are planted.

WHO CAST THE FIRST STONE, Tim van den Oudenhoven. Video, sound, 30’ 55”, 2016. In this video performance, one side of the screen shows a tied-up body in an anonymous room; the person is being attacked by objects being thrown at him. The other side of the screen shows the responses of people who are logged on to Chatroulette, an online random video chat service. Different from a performance in the safe environment of an art gallery, where the audience is aware of the artificial nature of what they are shown, the webcams of random users of the video chat shows a wide range of honest, true emotions. The performance piece does not merely exist in the secluded safe space of the art gallery, where it is “preaching to the converted”, rather, it opens up the experience and tries to attract a random, honest audience. The random viewers only see a few seconds of the video, enough to capture their initial reaction before a new chat partner is found. The visualization of the body is reminiscent of medieval pillories where townspeople could insult or attack a person, usually a criminal, and act as jury and judge at the same time. In the 21st century, this practice is alive and well and done on an immensely larger scale online. The soundtrack, a deafening mash-up of uncomfortable sounds, adds to the eclectic experience spectators perceive, both in the gallery as well as online. It reflects the many different voices, a schizophrenic panoply of emotions, ranging from surprise to shock, from excitement to laughter, from worry to indifference.

“Mittelmeer: Einheit / al – Ahadiyah", Fabio Campagna, outdoor video installation. Loop, black and white. Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, 2016. Music by la Muerte Roja: Fabio Campagna _ electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, vocals. “Mittelmeer: Einheit / al – Ahadiyah", is a silent black and white outdoor video installation, projected in loop in Prenzlauerberg, Berlin during april 2016. Where, the naked body of the artist presents itself as a spiritual support, trying to decode the hidden nature of the symmetry within the christological iconography of the cross. The right hand holds the word “Einheit” – unity – written in charcoal. Then the body slowly moves across, and the word “Mittelmeer” – Mediterranean – appears on the chest surrounded by a circle. Finally the word “Ahadiyah” – unity in Arabic – stands on the left hand which at the end disappears in order to let the physical narration start again. The pre socratic intuition (Anassimandro, Senofone, Eraclito and Parmenide as have been interepreted by the italian philospher Giorgio Colli and philologist Giovanni Semerano as the metaphysical poets of the sacred nature of reality), embodied by the word “Eniheit” – “Deus sive Natura” the ontological unity of living matter, which funds the birth of Logos in the western civilization - reverbs into the Sufi esoteric knowledge of Ibn Arabi “al – Ahadiyah”: the holy unity of the reality. A reflection, the west within the east. A unity in flesh and blood. The Mediterranean shines, therefore, as a whole, united, body – socially, culturally and symbolically – of living content. A circle, a definitive archetype, undivided. A living organism where east and west compose a symmetrical , infinite, dialog on the sacred nature of existence. Mediterranean, therefore, as definitive symbol of a symbiotic connection and mutual help. The video installation, projected on an entire facade of an abandoned Plattenbau, which has been destroyed by now, in the gentrefied area of Prenzlauerberg, is part of the projects “Nein” and “Intra Limen”, which analyze the nature of the interstitial, liminal, areas in the city. The projection was visible to the travelers of the trains U42 and U41 of the nearby u-bahn station of Prenzlauer Alle.

O.T.(WEG), Sabine Mittermeier, Video, 30 min, loop, 2009/2010.

7 5 12 -- M8, Fabio Campagna. Video, Sound, 12’’ 2’’, Loop, 2012 – 2013. Original music by La Muerte Roja. 7 5 12 – M8, is a video installation and a short movie shot in Lichtenberg, in Berlin, 2012. The title objectifies the date and the place from within it has been recorded, the tram M8, tram that connects Mitte, the centre of Berlin, with its est periphery, Lichtenberg. Passing by Landsberger Alle to reach Lichtenberg, where CORPO 6 art project space has been founded in 2012.

La Muerte Roja is a project by Fabio Campagna. Founded in 2011, Berlin. An open collective with which they have performed, in the independent and art galleries scene of Berlin and Rome. La Muerte Roja, adopting different approaches – tonal, atonal, improv, drone, noise – defines, ritualistically, in a high saturated media context – performance, installation, video installation - , a sacred area of being. La Muerte Roja is an oxymoron. Death in life. And vice versa. And it means rebirth. A Circularity of simplicity.

CORPO 6, an art project by Fabio Campagna, focuses since 2012, through a series of crossing media and site specific projects, on the examination of the concept of limen - border in Latin -, within the articulation of the city. CORPO 6 GALERIE, after 3 years (2012 -2014) in Herzbergstrasse 55, Lichtenberg – area objectified as an elementargedanken (A. Bastian)- the zone of transmutations – has been started a nomadic gnosis troughout Berlin.
