This workshop is for beginners in Max4Live and those who want to discover the power of Max4Live being accompanied by a seasoned teacher. Together we will scratch the surface of its main topics, from learning about the origins of Max4Live and why it's been a game changer, all the way to understanding how to use this powerful and versatile programing tool, that is, building instruments, audio effects and midi effects to make use of in your creative process.

Using a 50% practice 50% theory scheme, we will begin by browsing the Max environment in Live, placing some objects, building structures and see how things interact with eachother. We will face and answer every beginners’ questions together. We will then progressively add some new notions to make our musical endeavours more complex and more sonically interesting by slowly introducing ourselves to more advanced tools and resources of Max4Live. We will finish off by discussing extended uses of Max4Live.

After the 4-hour workshop we will have programmed a relatively complex audio effect that we can use right away in Live, the kind of device we will program will be decided on the spot according to the learners’ choice.
