OTOLAB
Otolab’s audiovisual performance “Fields” (2015) is a travel through metallic spheres kept together by magnetic fields. The elements of the microcosm turn first into organic particles, then into resplendent celestial bodies. At the end of the immersive exploration the view is enlarged to show a whole universe that may as well be a giant black hole, or Solaris, or an energy potential mass from where everything can start over again. Since 2001, Otolab functions as an interdisciplinary lab where video artists meet electronic musicians, architects meet designer, vjs meet djs and more. They (co)made the history of audiovisual edgy research of the latest years - as any Italian with an interest in the field may confirm – and they have been performing and exhibiting on an international level since years already. Berlin’s active scene of artists, musicians, curators et al. focused on experimentation, mixed media and art&science collisions seems to be the perfect audience to welcome one of their (relatively rare) live appearance in town.
NICOLA TIRABASSO
The solo project that the Milano based sound artist Nicola Tirabasso started in 2014 is the result of a fusion between the filmic image aesthetics and the construction of sound on it. His performance creates a dilated spatial and temporal dimension, developing a sonic-perceptive dialectics around the concept of repetition (loop) using cut-ups, field recordings and electronic frequencies. This is his second live set ever in Berlin; Fabio Volpi will accompany it with live videos - real time generated images and photos of nebulosas by NASA, mixed together in an ambiguous, estranging experience that makes the audience oscillate between macrocosm and microcosm.
