RENTE - is an immersive audiovisual performance which appropriates the concepts of expanded cinema to create a live narrative that crosses the screen projection to connect the audience and the stage.
The performance starts with graphic light images that are projected into the screen. These images, merge and generate three-dimensionality that little by little starts to come off the screen and occupies all the space around.
The lights are positioned in front and behind the projection screen to create geometric shapes in perspective that gradually change the own bidimensionality, creating volumes and depths. The shapes starts to beat in a kinesthetic way until them “exploding” in the screen, creating an ethereal way between audience and stage. Public, artists and space are integrate into immerse images that transcends the projection screen.
An audiovisual immersive environment that finds the connections in the unconscious and generates a narrative path created through the basic features of the cinema: light and sound. Live audiovisual immersion as a possibility to subvert the static condition of the screen and the established formality in a projection room, reaching for a unique body.
The Brazilian duo Mirella Brandi x Muepetmo research and create audiovisual projects since 2006, exploring in image and sound the perceptual of the capacity to change. The artists develop audiovisual languages generating individualized narrative paths that appropriates the live creation to enlarge these features.
Mirella Brandi is multimedia artist and light designer and Muepetmo is a composer and sound engineer. Together since 2006, they use image and sound to explore their narrative capabilities and perceptual transformation boundaries through installations and immersive performances. The duo captures the principles that rule expanded cinema and immersive installations, and transforms them through drama techniques to develop an immersive narrative that communicates and connects through the collective unconsciousness, but which is defined individually in those experiencing the work.
They have attended a number of festivals, including the Festival de Arte Eletrônica Vídeo Brasil (Video Brazil Electronic Art Festival), the On-Off Festival, the Exposição Cinético Digital at Itaú Cultural, Live Cinema in Rio de Janeiro, the Virada Cultural SP 10 years, the Digital Art FAD-Festival of Belo Horizonte, the Tangente in Montreal, Canada, C60Urban Solar Audio Plant in Berlin, Monkeytown in NY, LPM in Rome and the Rojo New Contemporary Culture in Barcelona, SP and RJ. Mirella Brandi x Muepetmo explore through image and sound their narrative capabilities and the boundaries of perceptual transformation.
