  • {+-} by Arielle Esther & Gabriela Prochazka
The performance {+-} explores the dimension of illusion and reality dualism, underlying our mental sphere, and invites the audience to experience space as an object. Whilst the power of sound in the darkness invites to introspection and mental imagery, the ephemeral light, from which arises a real visualization of shapes, leads the observer to a brand new interpretation of his surrounding. Light becomes a guide of shifting perceptions. Ideas are given, just to be given up again.
  • Selection of audiovisual pieces, created by Susi Sie
Exploring the physical and mathematical nature of unusual forms, substances and materials, Susi tries to show the hidden beauty and magic of our natural world that constantly surrounds us. She films liquids and particles with detailed precision and creates her video work, using only analog techniques.

Event presented by Scope - curated by Jemma Woolmore

Arielle Esther (FR) is a Berlin-based sound artist, working with electronics and acoustics. Her interest draws on exploring the inter-relationships between the spatial nature of sound, the aural perception and the act of listening itself. Through numerous collaborations with visual artists she finds ways to express her continuous need for narrative and immersion, for which she usually adopts multi-channel diffusion systems, considering the use of space as an essential element of musical expression. Her recent digital work is based on creating sound-stimulated adventures that merges abstract sonorities, haunting echoes, obscure yet charming territories.

Gabriela Prochazka (CZ) is a visual artist & light designer, interested in finding new ways of narration through various types of light sources. She is fascinated by light poetic and emotional impact and the way how it can reveal new perspectives on objects and their light permitting abilities. It’s immateriality, yet powerful storytelling. Recently she started to enjoy collaborations with sound designers to translate their sound-scapes into site-specific art forms. She is curious about creating new types of experiences and realities that might come up during live audiovisual performances as she dreams about exploring the boundaries and intersections of stage design, light design, installation art, audiovisual & theatre performances and the art world.

Susi Sie (1982) is a Berlin-based artist, whose work moves between the fields of art and science. Strictly applying analog techniques and refusing any computer animations or effects, Susi Sie’s haptic and detailed work is above all a highly personal study of the genuineness, perception and authenticity of things. Susi Sie’s work has been featured by internationally renowned online platforms such as Fubiz, Gizmodo, The Creators Project, This Is Colossal, Motionographer and Arte Creative, has been exhibited around the globe (New York, London, Paris, Rome, Sao Paulo, Norway), including the opening ceremony for the Rio Olympics this year and won several Vimeo Staff Picks and awards at international film festivals. She studied video art in Maastricht (2002-2006) and worked in a Cologne-based post production agency (2006-2011). Since 2011 she works as a freelance director, DoP and editor.
