SCOPE presents: Malte Steiner, Akkamiau + Aikia #130
Doors: 19:30
Start time: 20:00
Akkamiau + Aikia - hiT͟Hərˈto͞o
Live audiovisual performance by Lenka Kocisova (Akkamiau) and Alessandra Leone (Aikia), exploring possibilities of manipulation of space time continuum in relation to energy exchange. Visuals aim to break the constraint of ordinary video projection confined into a rectangle shape and depending on high quality standards, by filtering the light beam through a number of moving prisms and lenses, to deconstruct sound-generated patterns (HSS3jb by Gijkes and a number of dirty and messy composite and VGA hacks) and re-construct them along a looping space path that travels around the performers.
Malte Steiner - reqPZ
Audiovisual electro-acoustic performance by Malte Steiner's project Elektronengehirn. The input of piezo contact mics are taken and analyzed with Pure Data on a laptop controlling sound and graphics. The usage is pending between percussion trigger and pickup, where sometimes the piezo sound is used directly in the soundscape, in other parts it functions as control data for synthesis and for the visuals of the performance.

Alessandra Leone, trained (motion) graphics designer and self taught programmer, is highly fascinated by perception, consciousness and reality. She uses abstraction to represent their complexity and, at the intersection of Art and Science, draws the connections between sight, sound, vibrations and physical reality. Her meticulously planned works resound and resonate with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination, translated into highly contrasted pulses and cuts to reach and hit the visual cortex.
Malte Steiner (1970) is a media artist and composer. Steiner started creating electronic sound and visual art around 1983, developing his own vision of the interdisciplinary Gesamtkunstwerk, working with e. g. film, theater, video games, interactive installations and sound. Steiner's projects are primarily Elektronengehirn, Notstandskomitee, Akustikkoppler (with Matthias Schuster), Das Kombinat, Embedded Artist (with Wolfgang Spahn) and TMS (with Tina MK Madsen).
Steiner began the project Elektronengehirn in 1996, where it started as a side project to his industrial outfit Notstandskomitee, but it soon developed in another direction to take on a more experimental identity of its own. The main features of Steiner's electro-acoustic compositions are that they are done only with software instead of the use of hardware synthesizers and with custom made applications, he uses Max/MSP, Pure Data and Csound. Steiner's projects are additionally closely related to his practice as a media artist with visuals accompanying his performances.
His piece reqPZ has been performed i.e. at Piksel Festival in Bergen, Norway and at ZKM - Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe, Germany.
