MXZEHN - Im Garten der kybernetischen Kreatur
As the shadows of centuries stretched further and further – the last angels had long forgotten who once created them – the cybernetic creature bedded itself and closed, for the first time its eyes. Far away a galaxy collapses, electromagnetic waves delicately break on the shores of eternity, their spume heavy, red – colored by the dust of burnt out celestial bodies and the creature dreams. Dreams again the worlds destiny. The live audiovisual performance “Im Garten der kybernetischen Kreatur” is an artistic experiment built using various different forms of the organic and the synthetic. Bethan Hughes, Stefan Kraus and Marc Sauter come together to present a vision the dreams and nightmares produced by creatures simultaneously animal and machine.

Tarik Barri is a traveler through audiovisual space. He created a synesthetic universe in which one listens to images and sees sound. In his live performances, he takes the audience on a journey through ever-evolving constellations of beating, singing, and dancing stars, shapes and patterns – making music literally 'on the fly' while freely navigating and exploring his own three-dimensional creations. During his studies of Music and Technology he discovered many similarities between making live music and making live images. By creating and developing his own software “Versum” he was able to make a unique and personal audiovisual instrument. With it he explores new aesthetics in the combination of image and sound. The performance at Spektrum will consist of a solo piece by Barri, and a collaborative piece featuring vocal work by sound-artist and photographer Lea Fabrikant. As she feeds her sound and image into Versum she introduces more human dimensions to the virtual work. Their audiovisual manipulations however often result in deformations beyond recognition, where humanity and electronics merge into a different entity altogether.

Installation:  Electronic Chaos Oracle #5
The Electronic Chaos Oracle is an ongoing artistic research project by Marcel Schwittlick and Ramin Soleymani. With this work, the artists are investigating possibilities of creating an artificial intelligence systems to inspire it's observers. The Electronic Chaos Oracle opens up new questions by continuously feeding back the current topic of the conversation into the next question or statement it's proposing. The project plays with the notion of automatically generating novel ideas by simulating creativity. The edition #5 is an augmented machine learning chatroom, generated from millions of statements and images taken from a database of textbooks, 4chan, reddit, gifs and emojis.

MARCEL SCHWITTLICK is a German artist living and working in Berlin. With his work, he is examining new possibilities of modern technology. He is interested in digital culture and its inclinations on society and is working in strong connection to various filds in the arts, forging a connection between physical and digital media. He is experimenting with a variety of media ranging from digital images, physical and interactive installations, videos to physical acrylic paintings.

RAMIN SOLEYMANI is just a random cyborg. Like many of us he sticks in front of the screen too much. Fortunately, he makes interesting or funny things from that. His hobbies are design and science fiction. He explores new modes of work and human relationship and their influence on human thought processes, language and communication.
