Dr Mark de Valk is a senior lecturer on the BA (Hons) Film Production programme at The University of Winchester, UK. Mark specialises in independent film production across narrative, documentary & experimental forms, with a focus on the essay filmmaking practices.

Mark completed his PhD in film practice at Oxford Brookes University. His research & cinema interests include: Polticized Torture on screen; The Subjugated Body; State Power & Control; Social-Justice, Third Cinema; Transgressive & Essay filmmaking practices; New Hollywood.
