Music for autonomous noise machines and human performers.
"SENSUOUS MATTER" is a new performative installation music work by Mexican composer and multidisciplinary artist Marisol Jiménez. The piece entails an immersive audio visual environment in which autonomous noise spring machines are intervened by music performers to create a non linear ever changing structure. The evening concerts will include new composed pieces for machines, instruments and electronics. The performers are Biliana Voutchkova (violin), Matthias Bauer (doublebass), Emilio Gordoa (percussion) and Marisol Jiménez (live electronics and spring noise machines and harps).
The title alludes to the sensorial awareness of sound as embodied awareness, the energies of physical gestures and sounds created by the performers are combined and transformed by the gestures of the noise machines. The intention is to let the audience move freely on the space, and also to have the option of a more stationary form of listening when preferred. The installation will be running during two consecutive days (October 4th and 5th) with multiple interventions by the performers. Full length interventions or concerts by all performers will occur both days at 8:30 pm.
