The Coelacanth Press was founded in 2008, and named after the strange looking Prehistoric fish with a prototype human heart that was thought to be extinct, then rediscovered under a ledge in the South-Seas. The Coelacanth symbolises our intention to bring together a variety of new, established and neglected practitioners from different fields, and create something 'strange' but with heart. The press produces a serial arts publication called The Coelacanth Journal, currently at issue no.10, on the theme of 'Stage Fright'. In 2012, we published a new edition of Brigid Brophy's feminist classic of 1956, The King of a Rainy Country, with a cover by artist Bonnie Camplin.
LUNAR is a queer feminist screening series that explores ideas and feelings through moving-image programmes.
