Sympli Romatikó - Denis Kolokol #149

Doors: 19:30 / Start time 20:30
Entrance on free donation (up to your offer)

Sympli Romatikó (from Greek συμπληρωματικότητα – complementarity) is a Virtual World with simplified physical laws. In this World, sounds turn into objects, whose behaviour is affected by natural forces such as gravity and wind. The performer’s hands attract floating sounds – he literally “grasps” them and “draws” their trajectories in space.

Following the solo performance by Denis Kolokol, audience members will be able to try out the motion tracking on their own.

Denis Kolokol is a media-artist, sound designer and software developer. He was born in 1978 in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine and lives and works in Kraków, Poland. In 2008-2009 he developed interactive sound-systems for several theater pieces in Poland. Since 2009 he is a member of the Polish Society for Electroacoustic Music PseME.

As part of the Kraków-based electroacoustic trio Sympli Romatikó, he is responsible for electronics. Denis produces sound with use of the programming languages SuperCollider and Python for algorithmic composition, granular synthesis and live processing. As a solo artist he tries to combine non-intersecting or even quite the opposite things: interactive performance with algorithmic composition, granular synthesis with sound poetry, etc. Another strong interest is interactive art. Excellent programming skills (MA in computer science and more than 10 years of experience in programming and working with cutting-edge technologies) give him freedom in choosing the discipline and form. The interactive systems developed by him can successfully be used in theater, dance, performance, installations, etc.
