In our session we will explore expressive ways that light can be sculptured through convergence of light polarization and birefringent media using vintage liquid crystal technology. The presentation and workshop is based on Cere Davis' large scale project, Liquid Loom, an optokinetic interactive exhibit which bridges between digital art and material culture.

“In the journey of light and shadows” is a surreal audio visual apparition inside a light play with smoke stroboscope and analogue projection machines. The journey of light depicts the fragile equilibrium between sonic events and pulsating light movements.

The water's vibrations reflected by a light draws imago-sonorous contours, creating a live painting formed by sound, water and light. Interface between science and art, between registers of reality (sound, image, matter).
